Douglas Adams Biography
Although he died at age 49, Douglas Adams and his words live on as eager fans continue to quote and absorb his works-particularly the well-known Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.
Adams was born in Cambridge in 1952 where he was raised and attended university. His first taste of success was writing for the BBC. It was the radio station that first aired Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Adams later converted the scripts into a book that shot to the top of the UK Bestseller list.
His works received Hugo nominations, the Imperial Tobacco Award, Sony Award, and Golden Pans. He was also nominated for an Emmy for the audio version of his book that he read.
Adams died in May of 2001 of a heart attack.
