Brian Aldiss

A Grand Master of Science Fiction, Brian Aldiss was an Oxford bookseller when he wrote his first novel. He was born in Norfolk in 1925 and has written more than 75 books. His science fiction work has been nominated (and frequently won) Hugos, Nebulas, the British Science Fiction Award, World Fantasy Awards, and a Campbell Award.

While he is best known for his science fiction, Aldiss has also written contemporary novels, non-fiction, poetry, essays, drama, and reviews. Several of his books have been adapted as films, most recently Supertoys Last All Summer Long was adapted as Steven Spielberg's AI: Artificial Intelligence.

In 2005, he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to literature.
