Piers Anthony
Piers Anthony is an extremely prolific author who has published novels
on such extensive subjects as fantasy, science fiction, martial arts
action, post-apocalypse, horror, space opera, and erotica.
Anthony was born in 1934 in Oxford, England and given a whole plethora of names by his mother: Piers Anthony Dillingham Jacob. At a young age, his family left England, ending up in the United States after difficulties in Spain at the dawning of World War II. Anthony struggled throughout school-taking three years to make it through the first grade.
In 1962-after his wife Cam agreed to support him-he became a full-time writer. This too got off to a slow start, but he eventually Chthon and then began his famous Xanth series of novels. Inside of a ten-year span, Anthony produced 21 New York Times paperback bestsellers.
Anthony favors series, first with Xanth, but also with such best-selling series as Apprentice Adept and Incarnations of Immortality.
Anthony has been nominated for both Hugo and Nebula awards and won a British Fantasy Society best novel award.
