Carolyn Hart

Carolyn Hart is praised as the novelist who updated the mystery cozy to appeal to today's women. Carolyn Hart photoShe leaves all the hardcore sex and violence to others in the field while writing appealing stories that include mature characters and meaningful relationships.

Born in Oklahoma City, Hart began her career as a journalist, a career that was interrupted when her husband joined the army. Not wanting to return to the long hours of a newsroom, she instead hearkened back to the Nancy Drew books that she enjoyed so much as a younger girl and decided to try her hand at mysteries for girls.

After two juvenile novels and three young adult ones, she began writing adult mysteries, a trade that has won her such recognition as five Agathas, a Macavity, and an Anthony.
