Edward Hoch

Novels aren't Edward Hoch's thing. He far prefers the short story-a specialization which has won him the highest honors from such organizations as the Mystery Writers of America and the Private Eye Writers of America.

Born in 1930, Hoch has written more than 900 short stories. He has created a number of detectives who solve puzzle mysteries. In addition to mystery short story writing, he has written television scripts specializing in the mysterious.

He's also written under the names Irwin Booth, Anthony Circus, Stephen Dentinger, Pat McMahon, R.E. Porter, Ellery Queen, and R.L. Stevens.
