Faye Kellerman
It's an unlikely recipe for a bestselling author of gritty crime novels: a degree in mathematics, an observant, Orthodox Jew, and mother to four children in Beverly Hills. The recipe becomes only slightly more clear when you toss in a husband who is also a bestselling author of psychological thrillers.
Faye Kellerman, born on July 31, 1952 in Missouri, has written more
than 17 books and creator of the crime-solving duo, Peter Decker and Rina
Lazarus. Her husband, Jonathan
encouraged her to begin writing.
In an interview with Jill Zaklow in 1999, Kellerman responded to what it was like to be married to a fellow author, "I can't talk about what it's like to be married to an 'author,' but I can tell you what it's like to be married to a bestseller, Jonathan Kellerman. It's great. He's my best friend and my favorite editor. But remember, he was my best friend for fifteen years before he became my editor. I think that's the key. We didn't get married as 'writers.' We were lovers way before Alex Delaware or Rina Lazarus was born. We never collaborate on our stories. But we do collaborate on life."
